last year when i was super sad and things didn’t really go as i wanted them to, a friend sent me a picture telling me to always be (a bad ass) unicorn.
even though this phase of sadness has passed, a hard time has come again. i feel like there is no time at all anymore for the things i really love to do. going out and taking pictures for instance or drawing at night. instead i study every day, even in my semester break, and try to be a good student. don’t get me wrong i’m super excited to study and to learn how to be a good teacher. but i miss the other things that make me the unicorn i want to be, you know? so… i don’t know. i probably need a better time management or i should start to want a little less. because a day only hast 24 hours. …but maybe if i drank more coffee… ? well. i’ll think of something. in the meantime i made a little golden unicorn for my hair to remind me to always be one and do the things i love. if you’d like to know how the unicorn was made send me a note.

let’s be real! there can never ever be enough fairy lights!
i love those tiny lights and how cosy they make my flat. that’s why i don’t only have them for christmas. …while i’ve been studying a lot lately, i needed something to do while i told myself all the important things over and over again. so i made these little fairy light lampshades. they are super easy to make but it takes a lot of time!
all you need is paste, tissue paper, gold and white paint, brushes and fairy lights oh and something round and tiny which you use to pappmache your lampshades.

make little paper pieces out of the tissue paper, you can use old newspapers too, and glue them onto the tiny form you’d like your lampshades to get. i used the cap of my antiperspirant ;)

wait until the pappmache is dried and take off the little caps, paint the inside golden and the outside white… any other color, or non at all.

wait until the paint is dry and punch tiny holes into the caps. you might want to use the tip of some scissors.

put all of the caps onto the fairy lights… et voila! how do you like it?

do you already have christmas presents which are in need of a simple wrapping?
well i don’t this is a birthday present but i’m going to wrap my crhistmast gifts in this paper too. it’s super simple. you need gold metallic paint, a leaf… i like oak leaves this season… and brown packing-paper. use the leaf as a stamp and press it to the paper. you can add the golden leave at the end to your present as well. …super simple right?

today on we love handmade: my article in our magazine on how to make christmas tree ornaments with natural supplies.
i really like going for walks and collecting tiny bits i can use for something at home. like acorns and their little hats. After the magazine was released i even found those hairy ones which look even prettier with gold inside. read what i did with the acorns and two other natural ornaments in the magazine.

miss juliaquestionmark wanted to do some pappmaché weeks ago. since i always wanted to make a pappermarché lantern i thought i’d join her. this process is super easy but it takes some ime to dry. that’s why i only have two now… and they are bigger than i wanted them to be. so now they are my new jewelery bowls. i painted the outside with withe acryl and the inner pappmaché with gold paint. super easy and very elegant at the same time. maybe i’ll find some more time to make tinyer ones for a fairy light… we’ll see.

woooh 28 days until christmas. that’s not a lot of time!
on sunday is the first advent, that’s why i made my advent wreath this weekend. i made it out of thin branches and rose hip branches. it’s pretty easy and you don’t have all the fir needles on the ground. i hung the wreath because this year there is this tiny little friend of mine living with me and he’s not so good with fire ;)

of dinosaurs and fashion people…
remember that i made the logo for fashioncamp vienna 2012? well this weekend lot’s of bloggers from austria and germany met at the hub vienna to listen to other bloggers talk about different themes. i really liked meeting new people and to hear about the things beauty and fashion bloggers talk about – sometimes amusing sometimes a bit strange and unexpected, but since i’m not really in on all the fashionblogger secrets i can’t really talk about that…

the whole event was diy themed and they had workshops in the mornings where you could make jewellery with anna from daWanda, or sew your own clutch with h.anna. after a break (food from 12munchies yum!) the sessions started. the moderation was really good most of the times… and some of the themes were very relevant for a crafty blogger like me too; especially all the legal stuff made my head go spinning… but not as much as the after-party on saturday did ;) i had the pleasure to attend to the dinner party as well because i helped with the graphics… for this glamorous occasion i made this dinosaur headband and got a lot of positive comments on it :)
i took some pictures too but not so many because i felt intimidated by all those huge cameras :) hop on over to flickr if you’d like an insight on the event. or visit the fashioncamp site for all the other reviews people wrote.

hello stationary
last weekend at dasviadukt I also printed the backside of my new business cards. remember when i made a stamp to print on cardboard? well i always wanted a backside for the stamped-side of the business cards.
so i printed this yellow graphic, composed of an element of the butterfly in my logo, on to different shades of grey cardboard and some grey files. i’m still looking for a yellow pigment stamp ink for the dark grey cards, any suggestions?
the brown notebook is from muji, i file my work status in there. i also wanted to get the coloured ones, maybe another time.
plus: aren’t those scissors amazing? they look so pretty. i got them at my last bosener visit, which cost way to much. anyways they are handmade in japan, special for paper.
